My husband is planning on renting a truck to transport a large bed from our vacation house to our current house. It’s interesting that while normally not require to stop a weigh station, rental trucks may still be subjected to it if its cargo is too heavy. Well, here’s to hoping that that bed isn’t that heavy then.

My family and I are moving to a different state due to a new job my wife got. Never consider the fact that moving trucks that weight over 10,000 lbs need to stop at certain weight stations. We will keep this in mind one we find a rental truck to move out belongings.

My husband and I are moving a few states over because he was able to get a really great job in Nevada. Your information that moving trucks weighing less than 10,000 lbs don’t need to stop at the majority of weigh stations is very helpful. Since we are moving from a two bedroom apartment, I think we will be under that weight limit. We’ll start looking into a moving truck rental service in our current area.

In reply to ana. He means driving along routes with weigh stations. He doesn't mean he's gonna blow by the weigh stations without stopping.

We are moving to the coast so my husband can benefit from the humidity. My husband and I have started looking into a U-Haul truck rental service so we can move our belongings and were wondering if there are any weight limits along our way. I really appreciate your information that moving vehicles under 10,000 pounds don’t have to stop at weight stations.

It’s interesting to learn that trucks only exceeding certain weights are needed to be inspected at weigh stations according to your article. That is quite great too as I am planning to rent a U-Haul truck for our move this summer. I’ll be sure to check out our routes and see if we’ll be passing through some weigh stations and areas needing them. Thanks!

I contacted a well known commercial vehicle enforcement officer in Indiana, Brent Hoover, who does a lot of blogging on Facebook. I told him I was renting one of U-Haul 26ft trucks to move my home and if I needed to stop at the scales. He said that Indiana does not require rentals to stop at the weigh stations. Kentucky told me the same thing if it does not require a CDL.
